Video: The Lifeblood of Your Content Monetization Strategy

In my previous post, I introduced a 7-pillar framework for content monetization. Today, we’ll dive deeper into the first and most critical pillar: video.

Video drives engagement, audience growth, and revenue across industries. Whether you’re overseeing a portfolio of shows or creating content as an individual influencer, premium video remains the most engaging and monetizable format. The key is creating the right kind of video that will resonate with your audience and fit your scale.

For Media & Entertainment Executives:
– Leverage existing content: Maximize the value of your library by creating short clips, teasers, and behind-the-scenes content. Showcase exclusive interviews or bloopers.
– Optimize for multiple platforms: Repurpose content for different channels (FAST, SVOD, social platforms). Explore international licensing opportunities. Today’s audiences embrace subtitles and AI dubbing is making foreign content more accessible.
– Strategic collaborations: Partner with creators and influencers on emerging platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Introduce your IP to a new generation of fans.

For Smaller Creators, Influencers, Speakers, and Coaches:
– Focus on authenticity: You don’t need a full production crew. Your smartphone and basic editing tools are enough. Audiences appreciate realness and relevance over polish and perfection.
– Repurpose content: Break long-form videos into short clips for various platforms. Resize from horizontal to vertical. Tailor content to each platform’s vibe.
– Collaborate: Partner with creators or editors publishing relevant content in your space and cross-pollinate your audience with theirs.

Take Action:
– Evaluate your strategy: Consider short-form and long-form content. Explore communities on Reddit, Discord, or Substack where your audience gathers.
– Experiment with formats: Try longer and horizontal for YouTube and shorter and vertical for TikTok. Consider FAST for larger portfolios. Can you feed and refresh a FAST channel?
– Repurpose everything: Use AI tools to re-edit and format across multiple channels.

Stat check: By 2025, video will account for 82% of all consumer internet traffic. If you’re not prioritizing video, you’re already behind.

Next Steps:
Assess your current video strategy: Where can you improve? Focus on content that resonates with your audience and fits your scale. Experiment, repurpose, and prioritize authenticity and engagement.

Question: What’s your biggest challenge with creating video content right now? Are you focused on audience engagement?
